The Ensemble - Contest EntryThe Ensemble  The Ensemble is the result of a collaboration between a number of entities best described thusly: imagine if someone slipped a few dozen pages of The King in Yellow into a biology textbook, published the result as an avant-garde film, then adapted it into an off-Broadway musical, translated it into the language of the Kalahari Bushmen and had it performed by a cast of manic depressives. That is about as close as the sane mind can get to proper comprehension of the Ensemble — even the name is just a placeholder for the thing’s (things’s?) nigh-incomprehensible “true” title.

SSBD Round 2 -Part 3-Satchel stares confusedly back up at Cobra, who continues his own scrutinizing. Should this turn into a contest, it could take a while. (Do cobras blink? Satchel is physically incapable of it.) Breaking the tedium at the collar’s urging, Satchel gives a brief, flat-armed wave. Cobra continues to stare; pleasantries were not among the first expectations, apparently.   
 Satchel looks back into the raging sandstorm, points as best as one can without fingers, and gives the snake-man a questioning look. (This is more or less the universal body-language equivalent of, “So, uh, how about that weather?”) Cobra turns aro SSBD Round 2 -Part 3-

SSBD Round 2 -Part 2-The flying junkpile is still airborne, though it is coasting a little lower now; another trophy has been added to its load. Those figures are heavy, and so is the wild-haired simulacrum from earlier, now onboard.   
 The Bug Primid examines the new addition critically; the cape, golden blade and determined look should be familiar to those of you who have been paying attention. Satisfied, the Primid nods to its minion, which dissolves into its constituent Bugs and trickles down to the dome.   
 Now, what can be dropped to gain back some altitude? It looks around.   
 Ah.  ~   Satchel& SSBD Round 2 -Part 2-

SSBD Round 2 -Part 1-To the skies again.   
 A bizarre assortment of pieces and parts hovers in the air held aloft by spinning blades. Held tight against the underside by spindly legs is a strange device, domelike and slowly turning, scattering Shadow Bugs across the land in vast violet streams, Shadow Dweevils springing up where they gather. Occasionally a small figure, trailing the same purple spores, ambles over to  adjust the various bits protruding from the tangled mess, paying particular attention to the long propellor-stalks keeping it afloat.   
 The figure resembles an ordinary Primid (so far as the term can be app SSBD Round 2 -Part 1-

Going to college in three days, *grumblecuttingoffmybirthdaygrumblegrumbl e* hoping to work out a couple things, maybe have my birthday party on Wednesday, invite a couple friends and all that fun stuff.

Oh, one thing that kinda messed up the Euro-trip in general: Two weeks. Three changes of clothes. The laundry plan was to wash them in the hotel bathtubs. I trust I do not need to illustrate how much that stank.

Also: THIRTY DEVIATIONS, SIXTEEN MESSAGES AND ONE NOTE. This is what happens when I am disconnected from the internet for three days.
